To the parish...

Effective March 1, 2023, I will assume the role as Pastor of Sts. Mary and John Parish.  The bishop’s decision to make this appointment comes after extensive conversation and prayer with Fr. Alex and myself.  The bishop wants to provide greater stability for the pastoral care of the people of Sts. Mary and John, and I will be able to devote my complete attention to that ministry.

With this assignment, I will be relieved of my duties as Parochial Vicar at St. Benedict Cathedral.  However, I will remain in residence at St. Benedict so that both Fr. Alex and I can support each other fraternally.   I would appreciate your prayers and support.   I am grateful to the Bishop, Fr. Alex, the Staffs of Sts. Mary and John and St. Benedict, Pastoral leadership of both parishes, the people of Sts. Mary and John and St. Benedict.  Let us continue to pray for all our people.   I am excited about working with the Staff, Leadership, and the People of Sts. Mary and John Parish.

                                                        Respectfully,

                                                        Fr. Eugene Schmitt
