Music Ministries

At Sts. Mary and John, we embrace music ministry as a vital component of our Eucharistic Celebrations. In our music ministries, we strive to involve musicians of all ages and experience levels, whether vocalists or instrumentalists, in our liturgical celebrations. Whether you have time for a weekly commitment, a monthly commitment, or an occasional commitment, we’d love to have you join us in praising God and serving our Assembly. If you’d like to get involved in any of the ministries described below, please contact Tina Schutte, Director of Music. 425-1577 ext. 208.

Cantors and Psalmists are special members of our music ministry who lead the Assembly as they raise their voices in praise of God. Cantors empower our actively singing Assembly to fully participate in the music of the liturgy. Psalmists proclaim the Word of God in a special way, leading the Assembly in the Responsorial Psalm during the Liturgy of the Word. Cantors and Psalmists minister at all three of our liturgies each week. Singers interested in ministering as song leaders to the congregation are invited to contact Tina Schutte [email protected].

Choir members sing at the 10:00 am Sunday Eucharist. They serve as musical leaders in our liturgy and sing a variety of music, including traditional hymnody, spirituals, gospel and contemporary sacred music. Our choirs strive for excellence in presenting their music, and in the past have performed at charity events, parish functions, holiday services, and even sung in Rome. The choir rehearses Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm in Rager Hall. The choirs rehearse year-round. If you love to sing God’s praises and are interested in joining us please contact Tina Schutte, Choir Director at [email protected] today.

Instrumental musicians are welcome to join our musical ministry. They may play for various services, including weekend and special Masses. Interested musicians willing to commit their time and talent are asked to contact Tina Schutte, [email protected]. Rehearsals are flexible.
